[Repost] Shenzhen Memoirs Part 5: When Mimi from the East Meets the Stars and Moon from the West

The greatest joy of making children’s books is meeting such interesting children and adults^_^Original address:Shenzhen Memoirs Part 5: When Mimi from the East Meets Xingyue from the Westauthor:I am Xiao Doudou

whenThe lecture, “Eastern Mimi Meets Western Stars and Moon,” began on the afternoon of our final day. Because we had to return to Zhuhai that evening, we had originally planned to leave at 5 p.m., but even at 6 p.m., we were still reluctant to leave. It was the elegance of Professor Zhou Yifen and the subtle grace of Janelle Kennon that kept me lingering.

teaseDoudou and Mimi have had a relationship for quite a while. I remember when Doudou received that set of Heying children’s books, he was just over 2 years old. When he opened it, the first book he chose was “Mimi Says No”. At that time, Doudou was at the age when he liked to say no. Later, Doudou even took this story to participate in a storytelling competition.

This time, they were able to meet Teacher Zhou Yifen face to face, and the problem that Dou Ma and Dou Dou had been struggling with for nearly two years was finally answered.

What kind of animal is Mimi’s prototype?

Is it a little mole? Doudou shook his head: “Look at Mimi’s feet. The mole’s feet are round, and Mimi’s feet are long.”

Is it a puppy? Doudou shook his head again: “Puppies have tails, but Mimi doesn’t.”

What exactly is Mimi? Last week, the teacher unveiled the mystery: “Mimi is an underground creature.” Haha, the answer was both expected and unexpected. Although Doudou didn’t quite understand what an underground creature was, he seemed to have suddenly realized, “Mole rats live underground, too!”

I am honored to have participated in the making of the gift for Teacher Zhou Yifen as a grass seed.
On behalf of the Clover family, he personally delivered the gift to Teacher Zhou.

By the way, let me show you the gifts we made.
The gift on the left is for Janelle, inspired by the figure-eight dance in “Green Flute”
The Xiaomi rice given to Teacher Zhou Yifen is surrounded by the deep love of the clover

listenJanelle’s lecture was a treat.

Before the lecture began, the moment Jenny walked into the venue, I thought of Grandma Tasha.

Her passion for life and her rigorous approach to work inspire awe. When I first opened her “Stars and Moon,” I wondered: If I paint like this, won’t I end up with presbyopia?

For nearly two hours, Jenny spoke in detail—

The wonderful story of the squirrel and the paper roll

Dialects of American Crows and Chinese Crows

Little boy looking down at a large empty cardboard box

Janelle looks up at the angry dog

How to draw a drinking fountain that ejects a cylindrical stream of water (for dogs)
    …

As I listened to the whole song, I was not only impressed by Janelle Kennon’s talent, but also deeply moved by her awe of nature, her heartfelt care for small animals, and her extraordinary delicacy and persistence.

It is necessary to show Janelle’s signature

I was both impressed and humbled by Jenny’s dedication to autographs. When I went to get her an autograph, I also brought two of Youran’s mother’s books with me, figuring I’d just sign them while I was there. Instead, Jenny gave me two such beautiful autographs, so beautiful that I felt embarrassed to extend my hand holding the other two books. I figured, just as Jenny treats every autograph request with such kindness, I too should learn to cherish them.

Here, I would also like to express my special thanks to Teacher Xingxing for giving Dou Dou “Stars and Moon” and “Green Flute”.

When I was entertaining my mother at a lecture,
Doudou has been drawing all the time.
It seems that the old saying is true: “The older the child, the less worry you have” :)))

[转载]深圳回忆录之五:当东方米米遇见西方星月After a lecture,
Doudou filled Mimi’s notebook from beginning to end with drawings
In her words: “I paint the Mimi in my heart.”
Is it true that the sentence in “Stars and Moon” is true again:
We are so different yet feel so similar? Haha
I would like to thank Ms. Zhou Yifen for her signature.
I will treasure it, it is the most valuable childhood memory.

Wang Doudou wrote for an entire afternoon, producing a high output and an astonishing number of works.
Even Mr. Ajia noticed it :)
After the lecture, Teacher Ajia specially gave Doudou several of Mimi’s notebooks.
Doudou was holding it in his hand and showing it off all the way, and for a while it seemed like the talk of the town :))
