In July 2008, “Peking Opera Cats: Changbanpo,” a book series from the “Sensation of China” series published by Comic Book Publishing House and co-authored by Xiong Liang and Wu Zhai, won the Best Picture Award at the Second Asian Youth Animation Competition and the “Honglicheng” China (Guiyang) Cartoon Art Festival. The “Peking Opera Cats,” meticulously created by illustrator Xiong Liang, incorporate fascinating Peking Opera stories into a playful fairy tale, inviting children to connect with traditional Chinese culture through a joyful world of imagination.
