Forward: Capital Library’s Fifth “Seed” Storytelling Volunteer Training Activity Recruitment Letter

To pro­mote read­ing activ­i­ties for chil­dren through­out the city, sow the seeds of joy­ful read­ing in the pure hearts of chil­dren, and active­ly cre­ate a har­mo­nious envi­ron­ment for a “book­ish cap­i­tal,” the Cap­i­tal Library and Bei­jing Red Mud Cul­ture Devel­op­ment Co., Ltd. have joint­ly launched the “Sow­ing the Seeds of Hap­pi­ness” chil­dren’s read­ing pro­mo­tion pro­gram since 2006. The pro­gram has suc­cess­ful­ly held four train­ing ses­sions for sto­ry­telling vol­un­teers. Now, we are recruit­ing the fifth batch of “Seed” sto­ry­telling vol­un­teers city­wide:

1. Recruit­ment tar­gets: Vol­un­teers who vol­un­tar­i­ly par­tic­i­pate in chil­dren’s edu­ca­tion and read­ing ser­vices

2. Num­ber of recruits: 80

3. Recruit­ment con­di­tions:

1. Vol­un­teers who are inter­est­ed, pas­sion­ate, and will­ing to con­tribute to chil­dren’s edu­ca­tion and chil­dren’s read­ing pro­mo­tion;

2. Believe that healthy read­ing activ­i­ties such as read­ing aloud to chil­dren can cul­ti­vate chil­dren’s read­ing habits;

3. Pos­sess a cer­tain lev­el of cul­tur­al lit­er­a­cy, be able to read arti­cles and tell sto­ries flu­ent­ly in Man­darin; pos­sess basic expres­sion, com­mu­ni­ca­tion and obser­va­tion skills;

4. Have a good sense of respon­si­bil­i­ty and be able to con­tin­u­ous­ly and unin­ter­rupt­ed­ly pay atten­tion to and par­tic­i­pate in Sto­ry­telling Vol­un­teer activ­i­ties.

VI. Train­ing Method: Seed Sto­ry­teller train­ing is a month­ly, cycli­cal course. Reg­is­tra­tion for the train­ing course is open at any time. Vol­un­teers can attend the train­ing as audi­tors and apply for com­ple­tion upon com­plet­ing 48 hours of course­work. This includes 36 hours of lec­tures and 12 hours of sto­ry­telling prac­tice. Course con­tent encom­pass­es the­o­ret­i­cal train­ing in chil­dren’s lit­er­a­ture, psy­chol­o­gy, edu­ca­tion, and art, as well as prac­ti­cal train­ing in sto­ry­telling skills.
