She is still a lit­tle baby with enough room for devel­op­ment, and there are many peo­ple who care about her and keep ask­ing about her cur­rent sit­u­a­tion.
Thanks to the enthu­si­as­tic vol­un­teer Xiao Dou Dou’s moth­er for her sup­port, and to the sup­port of Yuanchu’s moth­er, Wang Xiaopang, and the entire crew of the Shen­zhen pro­duc­tion of “A Gar­den of Green Veg­eta­bles Becomes a Spir­it,” the Green Child Char­i­ty Project Depart­ment has begun exper­i­ment­ing with a “mass sup­port, steady and long-term” mod­el. This con­trasts with the foun­da­tion’s sup­port mod­el. Typ­i­cal­ly, to ensure the sus­tain­abil­i­ty of sup­port­ed projects, foun­da­tions pro­vide fund­ing for peri­ods rang­ing from a few months to two years, depend­ing on the pro­jec­t’s scale, with a max­i­mum dura­tion of no more than two years. Green Child is one of these projects. The Hong Kong Chan Yat-Sum Fam­i­ly Foun­da­tion’s sup­port for the Green Child Project Depart­ment ends in June 2011.
Recent­ly, I have been con­tact­ed by many friends and neti­zens, ask­ing how to par­tic­i­pate in Green Kids’ activ­i­ties and express­ing their inter­est in the next steps for Green Kids. Here, I would like to briefly inform every­one:
1. The Green Child Project Depart­ment will con­tin­ue to pub­lish the “Green Child” pic­ture album on a quar­ter­ly basis, attract­ing chil­dren with rich and inter­est­ing pic­tures and texts. We strive to be refresh­ing in terms of col­umn and lay­out design. We adhere to our mis­sion: to ded­i­cate the best works to rur­al chil­dren.
2. Through pro­gram inno­va­tion and devel­op­ment, we will design and orga­nize more activ­i­ties and cours­es that are suit­able for the ser­vice recip­i­ents, and grad­u­al­ly improve the Green Kids Mobile Cre­ative Class­room launched last fall;
3. Orga­nize a team of Green Kids ambas­sadors and vol­un­teers to encour­age more peo­ple to par­tic­i­pate in Green Kids activ­i­ties and mobi­lize more forces to sup­port the devel­op­ment of Green Kids;
4. We will try to launch a fam­i­ly coop­er­a­tion pro­gram in pilot cities, with fam­i­lies as the unit to sup­port Green Kids through month­ly dona­tions. For fam­i­lies who need pen pals, we will rec­om­mend pri­ma­ry school stu­dents from the project schools to estab­lish cor­re­spon­dence with the fam­i­ly. Through the form of “let­ters from two places”, urban and rur­al chil­dren can learn more about each oth­er’s lives, and at the same time, the pow­er of a fam­i­ly can accom­pa­ny rur­al chil­dren or chil­dren of migrant work­ers in the city.
