School events:

1. Wednesday, another sunny day. Today, there are seven teachers, all teaching only the classes at Ren’ai School in Qunxin Village, so the schedule is relatively relaxed. At noon, Xiaoyi came over and asked everyone to teach the Niubizi Village class tomorrow, as well as the new volunteer teacher from there. It was no problem, and everyone was happy to do so.

2. The courses at the Ren’ai School in Qunxin Village are proceeding normally, with morning reading, military training, Chinese, music, cultural reading and other classes being held in the morning.

During morning reading class, Ajia taught the older students a review of Li Yu’s “Mei Mei Ren.” The singing captivated the younger and middle school students, who gathered spontaneously to learn the piece, accompanied by teacher Chen Chao. After “Mei Mei Ren,” he then taught the children Bai Juyi’s “Chang Xiang Si.” We’ve found that mixing older and younger students in morning reading class is a uniquely engaging experience.

The new volunteer, Mr. Ju Xing, tried to teach the children a Chinese class in the third period. He chose “Happy Chinese Reader” as a temporary teaching material, and the effect was quite good.

3. The afternoon interest and reading classes were generally normal, but there were fewer children attending. We learned that several children have been assigned to schools outside the province. Some villagers now have electricity at home, and some children are staying home watching TV or playing games. The weather is getting hotter, and it’s easy to get lazy. We plan to visit more children every day after school to encourage them to continue attending classes. Today, after school, led by Teacher Xiong Ying, several other teachers went to visit a child who was bitten by a dog the day before yesterday. Although a bit mischievous, this child is a hard worker. He serves as our labor committee member and often helps the other children pick up and throw away trash. His parents were home when we visited today, and we had a good chat. There have been quite a few dog bites here recently. A few days ago, a first-grade girl was bitten by a dog at a relative’s house. It seems we really need to pay close attention.

During the afternoon reading class, several children from the lower grades spontaneously formed a small drama club and continued rehearsing. They diligently rehearsed the story of “The Gruffalo,” rehearsing it three times until they were able to perform it almost impromptu. I agreed with them to officially perform it during the third period of cultural reading tomorrow morning. This spontaneous activity has been very inspiring, and we’ve discussed organizing activities such as storytelling, fairy tales, and reading response works over the next few days to further stimulate their passion for reading. Later in the afternoon, Teacher Chen Chao provided accompaniment, and the joyful sound of singing once again filled the classroom.

5. I accidentally learned today that the village is organizing a unified plan to build a new countryside and rebuild homes for the villagers. This is a top priority for the village. I wonder how this will affect the school? We will be closely monitoring it.

The continuous sunny days in summer brought high temperatures, but the school deep in the bamboo forest seemed particularly cool. It was very pleasant to study in this forest… I hope the weather will continue to be good tomorrow.
