School events:
1. Thursday morning: strong winds and showers; cloudy in the afternoon, gradually clearing, then gradually raining in the evening. Early in the morning, Xiaoyi sent another message to inform us that eight new university student volunteers had arrived in Niubizi Village last night, so we wouldn’t be needed to cover for the class.
2. Classes at Qunxin Village School continued as normal, including morning reading, cultural reading, language, music, and comprehensive activities. During morning reading, Ajia gathered all the children to recite Jin Bo’s poem “The Little Deer” and offered a prize: if 10 students (of all ages) could recite the poem during morning reading, they would be treated to a movie in the afternoon. The children participated enthusiastically, and before the morning reading session was over, 10 students had successfully recited the poem. Teacher Ju Xing shared “Chief Seattle’s Manifesto,” a picture book about the integration of humanity and nature, with the older students, which was also very effective. During the comprehensive activities class, several students from the “Ren Ai Little Drama Club” officially performed the fairy tale “The Gruffalo,” which was also very successful. Today, we have appointed homeroom teachers for several classes: Ajia for the lower grades; Qin Ming for the upper grades; and Lin Yiwei for the middle school. We have also announced that we will organize reading activities for all students in the coming days: storytelling, fairy tale performances, and a competition for reading response works with prizes.
3. Near noon, volunteers from a Shanghai car club arrived with a batch of wooden boards, stationery, and toys. The wooden boards were particularly valuable, having been collected from various sources. Mr. Haonan from the Volunteer Center orchestrated the effort, and a group of anonymous volunteers diligently raised the funds. It was said that these boards were raised with the help of students from Sichuan University, primarily from the graduating class, who donated them for book storage. We were truly grateful! Now the children have desks.

After noon, everyone prepared to build desks and a new tent out of planks. Two fellow villagers volunteered to help, jokingly calling themselves “volunteers.” Together, we cleared a new area for the campsite, weeding, burning, and leveling the ground… This nearly doubled the size of the campsite. Several volunteer teachers worked from noon until night, erecting a new four-person tent (two bedrooms and a living room) and re-installing the wooden desks for the children. The entire school looked brand new again!

Don’t let the fire go out!
In the afternoon, during our reading class, we watched the movie “Charlotte’s Web” (played on laptops and amplified with small speakers). The experience was fantastic. The children were captivated by this film, adapted from a classic children’s literature story about friendship and caring for each other.

6. In the afternoon, Secretary Zhou from Qunxin Village came to visit us. We gave him a relatively systematic introduction to the school, explained the discipline of the Renai School volunteers, and clarified some misunderstandings. Secretary Zhou also highly praised and thanked the work of the Renai School and expressed his strong support.
7. A new volunteer joined the class this afternoon. He is Xue Shanbing, a senior from Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences. He quickly integrated into the team. He is good at painting and sports and plans to start teaching painting tomorrow.
During the evening meeting, I realized I would be leaving the school the day after tomorrow to rest in Beijing. Suddenly, I felt a pang of sadness: such a wonderful school, such a wonderful group of like-minded comrades, and such wonderful children. I really don’t want to leave!
