- September 26, 1959 — Born:South African illustrator Piet Grobler (1959–) was born in Limpopo Province, South Africa. He is an internationally renowned children’s picture book illustrator and author, having created and illustrated over 70 children’s books.[1]Grobler has received numerous international honors for his unique artistic style, including the Golden Apple Award at the 2009 Bratislava International Illustration Biennale (BIB).[2]He is also the winner of international children’s book awards such as the Peter Pan Award, and has made outstanding contributions to the field of children’s book illustration in South Africa and even the world. Peter Grobler also collaborated with Chinese editors on a book that was first published in China. I was fortunate to be the translator of this book: “Little Sister Nini and the Porcupine Gumba”
- September 26, 1947 — Death:Hugh Lofting (1886–1947), British-American children’s author, died in California.[3]Loftin is the creator of the classic children’s literature character “Doctor Dolittle”. His works, which tell the adventures of a doctor who can talk to animals, are loved by generations of readers.[4]His sequel to the series, The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle, published in 1922, won the Newbery Medal for Children’s Literature in the United States, establishing the Dolittle series’ position in the history of children’s literature.[5]Loftin wrote and published eight Dolittle novels during his lifetime, and two more were published posthumously.[6].

He also worked in the education of children with disabilities in his early years. These experiences have enriched his creative perspective. His most well-known work is the novel “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” (original English title The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time), which won several awards including the Whitbread Prize and the Guardian Children’s Literature Award after its publication in 2003.[8]Harden is known for his sharp humor and unique narrative style, and is well-known among both adult and young readers.
