Introduction:

In China, the interpretation of picture books lacks a clear direction. As an independent art form, picture books possess their own unique artistic language. Analyzing and interpreting picture books based on this artistic language is a blind spot in the promotion and understanding of picture books in China. Based on our teaching practice at the Picture Book Creation Studio at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, we have gradually discovered this perspective and direction for understanding and interpreting picture books.

What is the unique language of picture books? We will interpret classic picture books through intensive reading. Unraveling the secrets of picture books, layer by layer, we will explore the structure and creative logic hidden within them. Experience the captivating medium of picture books and feel their allure.

In sharing, we will also combine our own creations with those of picture book creation studios, and share the creators’ experiences in understanding and creating picture books. This will help us interpret and understand other excellent picture books in the future.
