\u201cGrand\u00adma\u2019s Cloth Mag\u00adic\u201d is a paper patch\u00adwork art exhi\u00adbi\u00adtion full of child\u00adlike fun. Through the inter\u00adac\u00adtion between the \u201cmag\u00adic\u201d grand\u00adma and three chil\u00addren, it shows the mag\u00adi\u00adcal effect of the com\u00adbi\u00adna\u00adtion of tra\u00addi\u00adtion\u00adal patch\u00adwork hand\u00adi\u00adcrafts with chil\u00addren\u2019s art and mod\u00adern art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Although the grand\u00admoth\u00ader in the book kept the small oil lamp on the kang lit when she per\u00adformed mag\u00adic, the small nee\u00addle hold\u00aders, lit\u00adtle lions, small belly\u00adbands, small cloth shoes, tiger-head hats, small cot\u00adton-padded jack\u00adets, cloth door cur\u00adtains, large quilts\u2026 which she made with cut\u00adting and sewing tech\u00adniques are also tra\u00addi\u00adtion\u00adal objects, but the way they are pre\u00adsent\u00aded is an artis\u00adtic com\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adtion that col\u00adlages togeth\u00ader dif\u00adfer\u00adent graph\u00adics, pho\u00adtos, and real objects, which is exact\u00adly the same as the way Eric Car\u00adle pre\u00adsent\u00aded \u201cThe Very Hun\u00adgry Cater\u00adpil\u00adlar\u201d. From the per\u00adspec\u00adtive of pos\u00adsi\u00adble nar\u00adra\u00adtive real\u00adism, the small oil lamp in the book is actu\u00adal\u00adly quite \u201csus\u00adpi\u00adcious.\u201d It\u2019s dif\u00adfi\u00adcult to find such a lamp in today\u2019s world, let alone for Grand\u00adma to use as a light while mend\u00ading. The fun\u00adni\u00adest part is that when the chil\u00addren decide to imi\u00adtate Grand\u00adma\u2019s mag\u00adic tricks with nee\u00addle and thread and scraps of cloth, they also use the small oil lamp for light\u00ading! This obvi\u00adous\u00adly can\u2019t be a real\u00adis\u00adtic nar\u00adra\u00adtive. The burn\u00ading oil lamp here is a sym\u00adbol\u00adic sym\u00adbol, rep\u00adre\u00adsent\u00ading the con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion of a tra\u00addi\u00adtion, the hope that it will be passed on to the next gen\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These patch\u00adwork quilts, passed down from gen\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion to gen\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion, car\u00adry a fam\u00adi\u00adly\u2019s his\u00adto\u00adry, tra\u00addi\u00adtions, and bonds. \u201cGrand\u00adma\u2019s Cloth Mag\u00adic\u201d show\u00adcas\u00ades the unique qual\u00adi\u00adties of tra\u00addi\u00adtion\u00adal Chi\u00adnese patch\u00adwork craft, where pat\u00adterns and col\u00adors often hold spe\u00adcial mean\u00adings. For exam\u00adple, the over\u00adall col\u00ador palette favors red, often sig\u00adni\u00adfy\u00ading aus\u00adpi\u00adcious\u00adness. When peo\u00adple view only con\u00adsumed items as trash, not only does this con\u00adtribute to waste and pol\u00adlu\u00adtion, it can also grad\u00adu\u00adal\u00adly dimin\u00adish their abil\u00adi\u00adty to appre\u00adci\u00adate the beau\u00adty of cre\u00adation. While chil\u00addren cer\u00adtain\u00adly can\u2019t mas\u00adter such com\u00adplex crafts quick\u00adly, their most pow\u00ader\u00adful skill is their uncon\u00adven\u00adtion\u00adal imag\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion. The patch\u00adwork pieces in the sec\u00adond half of the book are born from child\u00adlike imag\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion. Unlike the prac\u00adti\u00adcal crafts in the first half, these are essen\u00adtial\u00adly \u201cuse\u00adless\u201d objects, at most just chil\u00addren\u2019s toys. How\u00adev\u00ader, it is pre\u00adcise\u00adly this pas\u00adsion\u00adate and unre\u00adstrained imag\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion that allows peo\u00adple to feel the mag\u00adic and beau\u00adty of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
