Many of his mas\u00adter\u00adpieces have cap\u00adtured the imag\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion of the world by metic\u00adu\u00adlous\u00adly pre\u00adserv\u00ading the rich\u00adness of Chi\u00adnese cul\u00adture while suc\u00adcess\u00adful\u00adly incor\u00adpo\u00adrat\u00ading West\u00adern pic\u00adture book tech\u00adniques. \nWilliams is an illus\u00adtra\u00adtor I great\u00adly admire. He\u2019s said to be a rel\u00ada\u00adtive of E.B. White, and at White\u2019s enthu\u00adsi\u00adas\u00adtic invi\u00adta\u00adtion, he illus\u00adtrat\u00aded Stu\u00adart Lit\u00adtle, which fas\u00adci\u00adnat\u00aded him ever since. His illus\u00adtra\u00adtions for books like Char\u00adlot\u00adte\u2019s Web, the \u201cLit\u00adtle House on the Prairie\u201d series, the \u201cCrick\u00adet in Times Square\u201d series, and \u201cThe Bridge Fam\u00adi\u00adly\u201d are all mas\u00adter\u00adpieces. This book, a mas\u00adter\u00adpiece of his own writ\u00ading and illus\u00adtra\u00adtion, tells a deeply mov\u00ading and beau\u00adti\u00adful sto\u00adry of love and mar\u00adriage.<\/p>\n

Mr. Nao Mat\u00adsui once explained this book page by page in his book \u201cMy The\u00ado\u00adry of Pic\u00adture Books.\u201d It essen\u00adtial\u00adly fol\u00adlows the sto\u00adry of Sleep\u00ading Beau\u00adty from Grim\u00adm\u2019s Fairy Tales, but with slight tex\u00adtu\u00adal changes, the illus\u00adtra\u00adtions offer a fas\u00adci\u00adnat\u00ading expan\u00adsion and retelling of the sto\u00adry. Swiss illus\u00adtra\u00adtor Hoff\u00admann excelled in illus\u00adtrat\u00ading this tra\u00addi\u00adtion\u00adal sto\u00adry, and his pic\u00adture books are both clas\u00adsic and roman\u00adtic, yet unique. \u201cSleep\u00ading Beau\u00adty\u201d is his most rep\u00adre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtive work of this type.<\/p>\n
