After a series of com\u00adpar\u00ada\u00adtive exper\u00adi\u00adments, researchers found that com\u00adpared to oth\u00ader com\u00admon meth\u00adods (such as rep\u00ade\u00adti\u00adtion, draw\u00ading rela\u00adtion\u00adship dia\u00adgrams, and high\u00adlight\u00ading key points), using exam review and retrieval meth\u00adods is the most effec\u00adtive, with a 50% advan\u00adtage!

As the sur\u00advey report itself states: the group that admin\u00adis\u00adtered the exam was the least con\u00adfi\u00addent about their future per\u00adfor\u00admance, yet ulti\u00admate\u00adly achieved the high\u00adest scores. From a prac\u00adti\u00adcal per\u00adspec\u00adtive, tar\u00adget\u00aded exams are clear\u00adly the most effec\u00adtive for achiev\u00ading bet\u00adter scores on future exams, often referred to as the \u201csea of ques\u00adtions.\u201d

There\u00adfore, the ques\u00adtion\u00adable nature of this exper\u00adi\u00admen\u00adtal result lies in the fact that the project design\u00ader was the ques\u00adtion\u00ader both times!

This exper\u00adi\u00adment also lacked a con\u00adtrol group: a group com\u00adplete\u00adly unaware of the upcom\u00ading exam, instead con\u00adstruct\u00ading knowl\u00adedge from the learn\u00ading mate\u00adri\u00adals in a play\u00adful and play\u00adful man\u00adner. All four groups were aware of the upcom\u00ading exam, which rais\u00ades ques\u00adtions about the con\u00adclu\u00adsion that \u201clearn\u00ading is ben\u00ade\u00adfi\u00adcial.\u201d In fact, anoth\u00ader study com\u00adpar\u00ading the two groups showed that stress-free, cre\u00adative, con\u00adstruc\u00adtive learn\u00ading is sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant\u00adly more effec\u00adtive than exams.

The most pop\u00adu\u00adlar com\u00adment among over 300 com\u00adments stat\u00aded: \u201cThis study does\u00adn\u2019t mean that cur\u00adrent US exams are help\u00adful for learn\u00ading!\u201d It\u2019s impor\u00adtant to note that the exams in the exper\u00adi\u00adment were close\u00adly relat\u00aded to the mate\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal stu\u00addents were read\u00ading and were designed to help them under\u00adstand the text. Actu\u00adal exams, how\u00adev\u00ader, are not like this. Agreed!
