\nMany vol\u00adun\u00adteers have worked hard for this small school, teach\u00ading the chil\u00addren and par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpat\u00ading in activ\u00adi\u00adties. How\u00adev\u00ader, I don\u2019t know many of the ear\u00adly vol\u00adun\u00adteers well, and I don\u2019t even know their names. I\u2019ve only not\u00aded down the vol\u00adun\u00adteers who have been par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpat\u00ading in school activ\u00adi\u00adties since June 11th:<\/p>\n

Car\u00adrot Inspec\u00adtor, a male from Bei\u00adjing, is a chil\u00addren\u2019s read\u00ading pro\u00admot\u00ader and founder of Red Mud. From June 8th to 14th and June 28th to July 5th, he will teach cul\u00adtur\u00adal read\u00ading and fun math.<\/p>\n

Xiong Liang, male, from Bei\u00adjing, is a renowned chil\u00addren\u2019s illus\u00adtra\u00adtor and essay\u00adist. He will teach art from June 8th to 14th.<\/p>\n

Qin Ming, male, from Shang\u00adhai, white-col\u00adlar work\u00ader in the IT indus\u00adtry. From June 11th to 19th and June 24th to July 5th, he will teach Chi\u00adnese, Eng\u00adlish, and Read\u00ading.<\/p>\n

Zhao Tiezhu, male, from Bei\u00adjing, white-col\u00adlar work\u00ader in real estate. From June 11th to 19th, he taught geog\u00adra\u00adphy.<\/p>\n

Feng Ning, female, from Bei\u00adjing, a sopho\u00admore, will teach Eng\u00adlish and Math from June 11th to 19th.<\/p>\n

\nQunx\u00adin Vil\u00adlage is a moun\u00adtain vil\u00adlage in Han\u00adwang Town. It is said to be the most pop\u00adu\u00adlous vil\u00adlage in the town, with a total pop\u00adu\u00adla\u00adtion of 2,812. How\u00adev\u00ader, you may not be able to find it on the map because it was recent\u00adly called \u201cQuanx\u00adin Vil\u00adlage\u201d and recent\u00adly merged with anoth\u00ader vil\u00adlage to become \u201cQunx\u00adin Vil\u00adlage\u201d. Qunx\u00adin Vil\u00adlage belongs to Han\u00adwang Town, in Mianzhu City, which is under the juris\u00addic\u00adtion of Deyang City. \nThe vil\u00adlage is locat\u00aded in the epi\u00adcen\u00adter of the earth\u00adquake, and even now, after\u00adshocks can still be felt from time to time, and the sound of land\u00adslides in the near\u00adby moun\u00adtains can be heard.

\nAccord\u00ading to reports, the first group of vol\u00adun\u00adteers to arrive at Qunx\u00adin Vil\u00adlage in Han\u00adwang Town was the \u201cHeart of Chi\u00adna\u201d vol\u00adun\u00adteer ser\u00advice team, which arrived on May 21st. This team, formed inde\u00adpen\u00addent\u00adly dur\u00ading the earth\u00adquake relief effort, made out\u00adstand\u00ading con\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adtions in pro\u00advid\u00ading med\u00adical assis\u00adtance and coor\u00addi\u00adnat\u00ading with the mil\u00adi\u00adtary\u2019s assault. \nAfter sev\u00ader\u00adal days of coor\u00addi\u00adna\u00adtion and joint efforts, the Bei\u00adjing Ren\u2019ai Char\u00adi\u00adty Foun\u00adda\u00adtion took over the baton from this glo\u00adri\u00adous vol\u00adun\u00adteer team and estab\u00adlished the \u201cRen\u2019ai School\u201d in Qunx\u00adin Vil\u00adlage. After some set\u00adbacks, the school final\u00adly moved into a small for\u00adest. It was land owned by two vil\u00adlagers, who gen\u00ader\u00adous\u00adly lent it this pre\u00adcious land. \nAs a vol\u00adun\u00adteer for the Ren Ai Foun\u00adda\u00adtion, I vis\u00adit\u00aded Qunx\u00adin Vil\u00adlage on May 31st and June 1st. On the after\u00adnoon of June 1st, I par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpat\u00aded in a chil\u00addren\u2019s par\u00adty. I told the younger stu\u00addents the sto\u00adry \u201cYou Look Deli\u00adcious,\u201d and their clev\u00ader\u00adness and enthu\u00adsi\u00adas\u00adtic reac\u00adtion amazed me. That expe\u00adri\u00adence made me deter\u00admined to return. Per\u00adhaps this is what they call fate.
\n   
\nBecause liv\u00ading con\u00addi\u00adtions in Qunx\u00adin Vil\u00adlage were still quite dif\u00adfi\u00adcult at the time, the Ren\u2019ai Char\u00adi\u00adty Foun\u00adda\u00adtion was unable to send long-term vol\u00adun\u00adteers (equiv\u00ada\u00adlent to staff), so we were unsure whether the school could con\u00adtin\u00adue to oper\u00adate. I promised the foun\u00adda\u00adtion that we would form a team of vol\u00adun\u00adteer teach\u00aders to keep the school going.
\n   
\nOn June 3rd, I returned to Bei\u00adjing from Sichuan. After a detailed dis\u00adcus\u00adsion with Inspec\u00adtor Car\u00adrot, we decid\u00aded to form teams of two and take turns going.
\n   
\nOn June 6, the first team \u2014 Inspec\u00adtor Luobo and Xiong Liang set off.
\n   
\nOn June 7, Inspec\u00adtor Car\u00adrot and Xiong Liang fol\u00adlowed the Ren Ai Foun\u00adda\u00adtion to Dujiangyan School to teach.
\n   
\nOn June 8th, they first arrived at the Ren\u2019ai School at the Mianzhu Sports Cen\u00adter, then camped at the Qunx\u00adin Vil\u00adlage School in Han\u00adwang Town. The school\u2019s con\u00addi\u00adtions were very basic at the time. On their first night, they were hit by heavy rain, spend\u00ading the night in a del\u00aduge of water.
\n   
\nIni\u00adtial\u00adly, there were sev\u00ader\u00adal vol\u00adun\u00adteers from \u201cHeart of Chi\u00adna\u201d and oth\u00ader vol\u00adun\u00adteer teach\u00aders, but they all left one after anoth\u00ader, and only Xiao Yi, who was respon\u00adsi\u00adble for periph\u00ader\u00adal work, stayed.

\nAt noon on June 11th, four vol\u00adun\u00adteers rec\u00adom\u00admend\u00aded by the Cheng\u00addu Vol\u00adun\u00adteer Home arrived to take on teach\u00ading duties. They were Qin Ming, Zhao Tiezhu, Feng Ning, and Yu Xiaowen. With this, the teach\u00ading work at the Qunx\u00adin Vil\u00adlage Renai School grad\u00adu\u00adal\u00adly got back on track.

\nOn the morn\u00ading of June 12th, the Niu\u00adbi Vil\u00adlage tent school, spear\u00adhead\u00aded by Xiao Yi, opened for its first day. This tem\u00adpo\u00adrary school was pri\u00admar\u00adi\u00adly designed for stu\u00addent safe\u00adty, divert\u00ading stu\u00addents from sev\u00ader\u00adal crowd\u00aded vil\u00adlages. How\u00adev\u00ader, the con\u00addi\u00adtions at the Niu\u00adbi Vil\u00adlage school were less than ide\u00adal, pri\u00admar\u00adi\u00adly due to con\u00adcerns about safe\u00adty and the avail\u00adabil\u00adi\u00adty of vol\u00adun\u00adteers. There\u00adfore, Ren Ai was hes\u00adi\u00adtant to apply to the Edu\u00adca\u00adtion Bureau for the school\u2019s oper\u00ada\u00adtion, and the vol\u00adun\u00adteer teach\u00aders were mere\u00adly over\u00adsee\u00ading the teach\u00ading.

\nOn June 13, the sec\u00adond team \u2014 Ajia and Lin Yiwei set off.

\nAt noon on June 14, Ajia and Lin Yiwei came to the Ren\u2019ai School in Qunx\u00adin Vil\u00adlage, while Inspec\u00adtor Luobo and Xiong Liang returned to Bei\u00adjing to rest.

\nAt noon on June 28, after a rest, Inspec\u00adtor Luobo came to Qunx\u00adin Vil\u00adlage again to replace Ajia and Lin Yiwei.
\n   
\nSince the chil\u00addren will return to school on August 1st and the school has com\u00adplet\u00aded its mis\u00adsion at this stage, and respect\u00ading the arrange\u00adments of the local edu\u00adca\u00adtion bureau, we have decid\u00aded to evac\u00adu\u00adate the school on July 5th. We will return the school\u2019s sup\u00adplies as they should, but we will strive to leave behind a small pub\u00adlic library, which will be man\u00adaged by Ms. Xiong Ying, a local and tem\u00adpo\u00adrary prin\u00adci\u00adpal.
